MFL (French) Intent

At Newton Longville CE Primary School, French is our focus language. We aim to make learning enjoyable and engaging and give plenty of opportunities for children to speak and hear the language; they are encouraged to communicate verbally in pairs, small groups and as a whole class.

 

Children develop language and phonics skills through games, songs and rhymes and practical activities, both orally and written. They learn vocabulary, phrases and basic language structures while developing accurate pronunciation through different activities. These lay the foundations for further foreign language teaching and ensure that the children will develop conversational skills to speak confidently in another language.
